For some reason I find having Flaherty in charge of our finances somewhat unsettling. I always wonder if he is taking us back to the days of Voodoo economics or worse yet Harris economics. Using tax cuts as a panacea cure all, Flaherty has managed to successfully reduce our surplusses and give the largest corporate tax break in Canadian history. How has this helped the average Canadian? Not very much except for if the bottom falls out of the economy he can say we need more tax cuts and to tighten the belt and cut more social programs.

But to the article; Flaherty is being investigated for not vetting a $125,000 contract. Instead he awarded it to a friend of his. Now when the tories are in power they would accuse anyone of doing this of patronage appointments but hey…give these guys a break. After all people make mistakes right? Well it seems that this is the modus operandi of a government that quite frankly doesnt seem all that different than the Liberals when it comes to sucking off the government teet. Well except that they seem to be far quicker learners. Or maybe they spent the previous 13 years working out the best ways to get the system running for them after the Stood Up to Canada.

Maybe I shouldnt speak any further. After all if you speak freely in Harper’s Canada you get sued.

So much for free speech and transparent government.
