What the fuck is going on with employers in this country? Aside from their increasingly crazy lingo and unreasonable qualifications requests (as if every job requires a bachelors Degree AND at least five years experience,) or conversely your over qualified and you have to take your masters degree off your resume just to get lower paying work because the rents due and your credit card is maxed from buying food. We get low-ball wages ($12.50 an hour is far to frequent a figure,) surprise phone interviews, never being contacted (or even having phone calls returned) after interviews, people strung along for weeks at a time, stress interviews (even being told that you CAN”T LEAVE the interview,) open mockery at interviews and telling people they have a job and then changing their minds.

Not to mention the fact that your supposed to be 110% committed for life to give your life’s blood in a ‘fast paced, highly competitive work environment’ (aka WE WILL BURN YOU OUT.) Then if you get a job, you might not get paid for months for contract work and then that’s only because you had to chase them. Overtime is expected (and even seen as some sort of benefit,) kowtowing to the boss’ politics is expected, being ‘friends’ with coworkers outside of work is expected and creates weird social hierarchies akin to the courtiers of Mandarin Emperors of old.

You also may have your workload doubled by having extra duties loaded onto you that were not in the job description while dealing with micromanaging incompetents who aren’t sure how to do their job so they just nag you about how to do yours.

Then most of these people have the gall to tell their victims that they are the ones being unprofessional for challenging them.

So, what the fuck?

No wonder this town produces shit when the only people that can get a decent jobs are the spineless yes-men and fad followers that wear the right clothes and laugh at the boss’ jokes, whose incompetence doesn’t threaten the fragile ego of the boss and expose their ignorance and uselessness.

No wonder Canada is melting down, from Harper’s Conservatives down to Scam Sullivan’s city hall to corporate execs and high level management down to the bitter receptionist tracking peoples emails to make sure they are answered IMMEDIATLY after they are read, Canada is being over run by nasty scum.

This Goddess post seems to some up an emerging attitude of the employers on high deigning to employ the mere mortals below. That employment is some sort of privilege bestowed upon the people at the whim’s of the downtown God’s and Goddesses.
