Just Die Already
To the boomer generation, please just get on with it and die. You’ve already fucked up the environment, the social safety net, politics, the economy, our social infrastructure and just about everything else you’ve touched. You have now oppressed two subsiquent generations, and these are you’re children mind you you have the job of cleaning up the soul crushing mess you’ve left in you’re wake. You refuse to retire and let your heirs have their turn at the wheel because your heads are so far up you’re asses you think only of yourselves and can’t comprehend that maybe other people might have a better idea of what’s going on.
The fact is your generation is so self centered and so unrelentingly navel gazing that the two generations of your children don’t even get a defining name for their generations. They are named simply as mathematical unknowns. Gen X and Gen Y.
What sweet irony that the generation that coined the phrase “don’t trust anyone over thirty!” has now left its children so long oppressed that their protest song is “don’t trust anyone over 50. Yes, that is how long we the younger have been under your hypocritcal thumb, you are fifty and we still can’t get by your self centered dominence of everything in the world. So fuck off and die, we are tired of waiting for our turn and not to happy about the fact that most of use will get the oppertunities you had at twenty when we are fifty. Not only that, you guys had it super easy when you were young, you had a thriving economy and a strong social safety net. Labour rights were strong and education meant something. There was substantial arts funding and intellegence was respected. These things were given to your by your parents, the Great generation, because they went through hell in war and depression and decided to fix the world. Now you have dismantled all the things that gave you an easy ride and yet you expect your children to live as you have, to thrive as you have. When we don’t you label us slackers. We are not lazy or stupid, in fact we work harder and are far smarter then you, the only thing is while you grew up being stars of your culture, catered to in every way, we grew up being ignored or at best as a niche market. Our response, which is only natural, is to be bitter and jaded, sardonic and blithe. These are the Gen Xer’s who were raised on the high hopes and expectiations of the promises you made, finding them to be all lies. Gen Y, you’re later progony, learned from the Xer’s and never even bothered with hope, they became vapid and shallow, deciding to party and live amungst frills and thrills. In between are the Bohedonists, those who were early enough to catch the bitterness and try to have a brain yet late enough to give up and just live for the moment because really, what choice do we have? Most of us have come to terms with never owning a house, never having an RSP, never having our voices heard.
You may have grown up under the threat of nuclear war with Russia. Boo hoo. We’ve have that plus terrorism, scientifically certified impending environmental catastrophy, dwindling resources, toxic living conditions, world hunger, massive worldwide poverty, unstable working conditions, rapidly regressing civil liberties, constant global warfare and genocide, dying oceans, mass extinctions, recesions, an unstable world finance system, etc etc etc, ad nauseum.
Are we whining? No, we have faced the facts, we have lived our whole lives with these issues staring us in the face, as chilren watched on TV the faces of starving children around the world. All we ask is you get out of the way and let us deal with these problems that you are clearly not equiped to handle.
Is that to much to ask?
