The first date coffee of doom
Ladies, when your on a first date at a coffee shop and the dude offers to buy you a coffee, do not clutch your wallet to your chest and state boldly that you can buy your own coffee, thank you very much. Any self respecting man is walking out right then and there. Its a $2 coffee for god’s sake, acting like I’m trying to buy your virtue ends any attraction right then and there.

Okay, that comment has little coherence, but what I think it is trying to say in its own mangled way is that the somehow I am old fashioned (hence the seniors living intro) for being insulted when I offer graciously to buy a coffee for a woman I am on a first date with. If you actually read the thing I am not demanding that the man always pays and the woman always gives in to his masculine demands. If she had offered first to buy the coffee I would have been more then happy to accept. On other dates it happens, and then on others I buy. It is a gender neutral gesture of sharing and openness, and if you can’t handle that on a first date there is no point in even finishing the date. You want to know why most of Vancouver is single? It is because people can’t make themselves vulnerable enough to allow someone to buy them a coffee on a date. Pretty fuckin’ sad.
